Take some time while developing your blog to do some research on the industry and check out other blogs within the same niche. You can also use tools like SparkToro to see the types of followers that other blogs in your field have. Once you have posted a few blogs, you can look at Google Analytics to see what kind of audience is visiting your site most often.

One of the biggest determiners of a blog’s success is how often posts are uploaded. If you don’t update your blog frequently, readers may get tired of waiting and find other blogs to meet their needs. However, you still need to take your time to make sure your blogs are well thought out, original, and interesting.
The process of improving your content to show up in Google results is called search engine optimization (SEO). This is a vast field with both content-based and technical elements. However, beginner bloggers only need to know the basics, including:
- Metadata. Writing the title tag, meta description, and alt text for the pages and images on your website allows Google and other search engines to gain a better understanding of your pages and rank them accordingly.
- Keywords. Finding keywords that potential visitors within your blogging niche are searching for is essential for SEO. You can use these keywords to guide your content strategy and place them in headlines, subheads, and metadata to let search engines know what your content is about.
- Links. Linking between pages of your own blog can help signal to Google what your content is about and encourage users to stay on your site longer. Additionally, earning links from other reputable sites can tell search engines that your content is high-quality and trustworthy, which can boost rankings further.
Several blog hosting sites offer SEO plugins, like Yoast SEO and SEOquake, to make it easier.
There are many reasons why a blog may not get traffic, including:
- Thin content. Search engines and readers alike don’t like short content that doesn’t fully answer questions. If the majority of your posts are less than 500 words each, you may not get many visitors.
- No promotion. If people don’t know your content exists, they’re not going to seek it out. Be sure to share lots of details about your blog across social channels to get people excited and ready to visit your site.
- Not optimized for search. Focusing on some search engine optimization tactics, like writing compelling headlines with descriptive keywords, can increase your position within search engine results page rankings and help people find you.
If you’ve been blogging for a while and are ready to improve your blog, there are many ways you can do so. Additionally, check out comments on your blogs and talk to your followers to see how they think you can level up your content. Check analytics for your posts and see which are doing well, which were doing well but aren’t anymore, and which didn’t perform as you hoped they would. Take notes from the really great pieces and use them to refresh outdated or lower-performing blogs.
While technically Ariana Huffington was the highest-paid blogger in 2021, she has the power of a team of writers, editors, and more to help her manage huffpost.com, which is more of a media outlet than a blog. According to createandgo.com, Yaro Starak is the highest-paid independent blogger, earning over $40,000 a month.
There are several ways to generate traffic for a new blog, but some of our personal favorites include:
- Social promotion. Share every post you write to your social channels, and encourage your followers to share with friends.
- Ads. If you’re willing to put some money behind your blog, promoting your social posts can get them in front of fresh eyes.
- Guest posting. Prepare a great blog, but instead of posting it to your blog, offer it to other bloggers in your niche. While this may seem counterintuitive, you can ask for a quick blurb and backlink promoting your blog within it. This helps you access their established fanbase and may help you gain new followers.
The most common mistake for first-time bloggers is expecting every single post to bring in great results. Blogging, like everything else, takes trial and error to figure out what works. If a few of your blogs don’t perform like you hope they will, don’t get discouraged. Instead, try out new topics or formats, look to see how you can improve, and keep writing.
There are multiple formats a blog can take, as well as different media you can embed in them, from images to videos to podcasts. However, most blogs tend to follow the same general flow. Start with a title, then move on to the intro. If you want, you can break up your text with a subhead at this point, then share a main idea. Add as many subheads and paragraphs discussing your topic as you want, then wrap it up at the end with a nice conclusion paragraph. Check out the GRIN Blog to see how we format our content.
The ideal amount of traffic for a blog depends on the overall topic you’ve chosen for your blog. If it is a more niche topic, you should expect a smaller following, while blogs focusing on a popular subject may expect more.
The amount of traffic any blog gets depends partially on the niche it covers. If it is a topic with a large following, you may expect to get more traffic. A better measure of how your blog is performing is by seeing how much growth you get. A reasonable growth goal for a blog is to increase traffic by 6% each month. This can be really easy when you’re first starting and get harder as your fan base grows.
Blogging can be profitable if you put the time and effort behind it to create compelling content and a loyal following. The more people you attract to look at your blog, the more money you can make.
Using a paid blog host opens you up to a number of benefits, including:
- Increased customer support
- More website themes and templates
- Additional tools and plugins to increase the functionality of your blog
- Security and backup services
Some sites, like WordPress, offer paid plans for as little as $4 a month.
WordPress offers free and paid plans, allowing users to pick a solution that best meets their needs and resources.
The best hosting site for your blog will depend on a number of factors. Be sure to check:
- Whether or not the hosting site offers customizable website themes
- How much storage space they offer per plan
- If they offer network security and backup services
- Reviews for the hosting site to learn about others’ experiences
Some popular hosting sites include bluehost.com, squarespace.com, and godaddy.com.
Before we answer this question, we first need to define what a web host is. A web host is anyone that stores online data for a website on a server. Both individuals with servers at home and organizations with a huge amount of technological capabilities can do this; it’s just a matter of scale.
However, while it is possible to host your own blog, it is much simpler and more efficient to choose a hosting service unless you are familiar with this process.
In general, there are no hard and fast rules about blogging, since it’s typically something you’re doing on your own. However, there are some best practices to follow to create the best experience for your readers:
- Update frequently. Adding content regularly keeps users excited and wanting to come back for more.
- Consider your topics. Take time to brainstorm some blog ideas that you think you would enjoy writing and your audience would love to read. At the same time, think about whether the subject matter lends itself best to a blog format. Some content really shines as video, while other topics benefit from the written word.
- Think about formatting. Whether your newest blog post is short and sweet or closer in length to a novel, formatting can help make it clear and easy to understand for your readers. Be sure to break up paragraphs often, and use clear and compelling subheadings to tell readers what each section is about.
Share your work. After you’ve spent so much time crafting the perfect blog, you’ll want to make sure people see it. One of the easiest ways to do this is to share it on your favorite social channels with links to the new post.
Most bloggers wouldn’t recommend posting every day for a few reasons. Firstly, it takes about 3 ½ hours to write a typical blog post. Unless blogging is your career, chances are that you won’t be able to devote the time to write a high-quality post every day. Secondly, if you’re sharing your posts on social channels (which we recommend), your followers may quickly feel spammed. In our eyes, quality is more important than quantity.
According to RankIQ, food and recipe blogs earn the most traffic, followed by lifestyle, travel, and arts and crafts.
There are a few great ways to increase your blog’s visibility, including:
- Posting on social platforms. You can share resources from your blog with followers on social platforms, who can then share them on their personal pages with their followers. You can also pay to promote your posts so that you can get your blog in front of new people who aren’t currently following you.
- Optimizing for search engines. Did you know there are steps you can take to help your blog show up on the first page of Google results? Search engine optimization (SEO) involves writing content with certain keywords in mind, among other things, to show up in searches involving those phrases. Check out this great beginner’s guide to SEO.
- Guest blogging. While it may seem counterintuitive to write a blog for another site, it can actually be extremely beneficial. Doing so can help your writing reach fresh eyes, and if they like what you have to offer, you might just earn some new followers for your own blog.
According to Compose.ly, a blog should launch with at least 10 posts on it. However, this can mean different things to different people. If you want to announce to your followers that you have a blog with a more finished product, having those 10 posts already uploaded can give the impression of a well-established site. However, if you want to invite readers to join you as you begin the content creation process and start with just one blog, that works too! Just be sure to add high-quality blogs frequently to keep everyone interested.
There is no true best time of the day to post a blog. Since it will stay on your website for as long as you like, you can publish it as soon as it is ready. Timing becomes more relevant when it comes to sharing it on social platforms. The best time to post depends on your audience and the social platforms you choose. Post scheduling tools can often provide optimized times based on their data and algorithms.
The cost per view can vary depending on your overall blog topic. According to millennialmoney.com, bloggers can make anywhere from $10-250 per 1,000 views.
According to RankIQ, food and recipe blogs tend to be the highest grossing, followed by personal finance, lifestyle, and then travel.
Yes, you can write just about anything in a blog. However, it’s important to keep in mind that there can be personal consequences based on what you share. For example, if you use your blog to share untrue statements about a person or company, they may choose to sue you for libel. On another note, people can also take legal action against you for copying their intellectual property without proper permissions.
While there are no hard-and-fast rules, in general, you should try to avoid:
- Extremely short content. When your readers click your article, they want to learn something new or be enchanted with a story, both of which are hard to do with just a few sentences. According to research from OptInMonster, blogs that were longer than 2,000 words performed the best.
- Repeating blog topics. If you repeat the same content, your readers may get bored and stop checking out your new blogs. Additionally, search engines can get confused when your site has similar content on multiple pages, which can cause them to list your page at the end of the results or leave you out entirely.
- Clickbait. Don’t lure readers in with the promise of some interesting tidbit and leave them high and dry. This can cause people to grow frustrated and avoid your blog.
Bloggers can get traffic from people sharing their blog posts on social platforms, through people finding their content through a search engine, and even ads, if they have the budget to promote their blog. They can also guest post for other blogs to get their writing in front of a new audience and potentially earn new followers.
According to Wix, a beginner blogger has the potential to make anywhere from $500-2,000 a month during the first year or so of blogging, while more experienced bloggers can make even more.
Bloggers can get paid by monetizing their content. Depending on their hosting site, they can set up advertising to run on their sites. Additionally, if bloggers have a large following, they may choose to use a subscription plan to offer exclusive content hidden behind a paywall. If they promote products on their blog, they can also use affiliate links to earn a portion of the sales purchased through that URL.
WordPress is one of our favorite free blog hosting sites. It seems that most people agree, as it is the most commonly used blog hosting site with 43% of the internet being built on WordPress.
There are some key similarities between WordPress and Blogger, including that they:
- Offer a variety of website templates and layouts
- Don’t require a knowledge of coding to create a website
- Allow you to use a free or paid domain name
- Offer monetization opportunities so you can get paid for the ads on your site
- Offer free website creation
There are also some differences:
- Blogger offers a free analytics dashboard while WordPress requires you to use Google Analytics
- WordPress offers paid plans if you want to upgrade your site, which you can switch to in the future
- WordPress offers more customization than Blogger
Overall, WordPress gives you more freedom and the chance to expand your blog with a paid plan in the future, making it our choice over Blogger.
A blog hosting site is a company that will store the data for your blog on its server. They also help set you up with an IP address that allows users to find your site. There are several free and paid options available.
The first thing you need to do to start blogging is define what your blog is. Determine the topics you’ll focus on and pick an original name. From there, you’ll have to decide where you want your blog to live and what your budget will be. There are plenty of free blog hosting sites, but with some start-up investments, you can pick a domain name, access more options when it comes to your blog’s design and layout, and have the luxury of some extra storage space.
Once you get your site set up, it’s time to write a post introducing yourself and your blog to the world. From there, you can start sharing it with your followers across social channels. The last essential step for getting started is determining your cadence (how frequently you’ll be posting) and creating a bank of potential content ideas you can pull from in the future.
Blog is a shorter version of the phrase “web log,” according to TechTerms. This is a pretty accurate description, as blogging is essentially keeping a log on the internet of thoughts, trends, recipes, etc.
According to a study of about 777 million Facebook posts in 2019, videos were the highest performing content type on Facebook. Other research across all social channels found that specifically short-form videos were the most preferred type of post. However, it really depends on your target audience. Try several different content types and see how engagement rates compare across all of them to gain more insight.
You can make Facebook posts more attractive by including graphics, photos, and videos with them. While it may sound intimidating, you don’t need experience in graphic design to make some incredible posts. Tools like Canva and Visme are user-friendly and great for beginners looking to edit images and videos.
There are a few ways you can increase your following on Facebook, including:
- Post high-quality content frequently. Having a steady stream of posts will keep existing fans interested and attract new followers.
- Create shareable content. When fans share your content, their friends can see it and may even begin to follow you too. Buffer studied a massive amount of Facebook posts in 2019 and found that video performed best and content that was “funny, inspirational, or practical” earned the most engagement.
- Encourage followers on other social platforms to follow you on Facebook. In order for this to be effective, you need to differentiate the kind of content you share across channels, which incentivizes your fans to follow you on several platforms.
- Use hashtags. Find relevant hashtags and use them in your posts to make them searchable.
Due to Facebook’s large audience and wide variety of post types, you can share just about any type of content on Facebook. For example, if you want to share a major announcement, you can host a Facebook Live to tell your fans in person or you can create a text post to share your thoughts with the written word. Whether you want to share a short thought or a meaningful story, you can do it with Facebook’s photo albums, Stories, live videos, and other content types.
You can host a Facebook Live video by going into the app or the website and clicking on your profile page. From there, it will give you a text box where you can write a post, and underneath there are buttons labeled “Live video,” “Photo/video,” and “Feeling/activity.” Click “Live video” and choose whether you want to go live now or host a live event that you can invite people to in the future. From there, decide whether you’ll use a webcam or a streaming service, set your video and audio controls, and get started.
Influencers use Facebook Live for all sorts of content, from live Q&As, events, big announcements, giveaways, and more.
Facebook is a great platform for influencers to reach their audience. While Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and most other social media platforms tend to focus on one or two content types, Facebook has several, including:
- Text posts
- Photo posts
- Videos
- Reels
- Live videos
- Live audio rooms
- Stories
Eligible influencers can even set up subscription-based content and paid events on their profile to earn money in unique ways. And if you have a podcast, Facebook allows you to upload episodes so fans can listen from your profile.
Facebook holds a lot of opportunities for influencers willing to get creative. Plus, with about 2.91 million monthly users, you have the chance to reach a wide audience.
Since there are multiple ways to earn money on Facebook, the amount an influencer can make varies. Let’s take a look at how monetization works for the different content types.
- Video ads: Each influencer has a different CPM, or cost per 1,000 views. Influencers with larger followings tend to have higher CPMs.
- Fan subscriptions and online events: These types of monetization allow influencers to customize the cost per subscriber or participant.
- Branded content: The amount an influencer makes on this type of content depends on negotiations conducted with the sponsoring brand.
- Stars: Each star an influencer earns is the equivalent of one cent. Therefore, someone would need to receive 1,000 stars to earn $10.
Influencers should be aware that they can only request a payout when they reach at least $100 in revenue.
Facebook influencers, or creators, are people whose Facebook profiles have amassed a significant following and who post regularly. They typically also have a blue checkmark next to their name on the platform, which signifies that their account has been verified, and they can earn money from posting content.
Creating engaging content on Facebook is easier than you think. Here are a few of our favorite tips:
- Ask questions. People love to talk about themselves, and this is especially true on social media. Encourage followers to answer a question in the comments, whether with text, GIFs, or stickers.
- Share interesting content and useful information. A study of 777 million Facebook posts in 2019 found that content that was either funny, inspirational, or practical earned the most engagement.
- Be authentic. People love content that gives them an honest look at who you really are.
- Use different media types. Video performs best according to Buffer, but graphics and photos can also add flavor to posts. Try a bit of everything, from Facebook Live to Stories, and look at your engagement rates to see which perform best with your audience.
As of June 2021, the influencers or celebrities with the largest followings on Facebook are:
- Cristiano Ronaldo
- Shakira
- Vin Diesel
- Leo Messi
- Eminem
Facebook does pay for video views in specific cases. In order to earn money with your videos, you need to:
- Set your account to professional mode. Facebook introduced this functionality in December 2021 and is still rolling this out, so not all profiles are currently eligible for it.
- Apply for monetization. Once you gain a large following and earn a lot of engagement, you can try to set up monetization for your profile. You can check to see if you are eligible by going to Creator Studio, clicking the “Monetization” button, and then clicking “Overview.”
- Create content that meets Facebook’s guidelines. All videos need to follow Facebook’s Community Standards, Partner Monetization Policies, and Content Monetization Policies.
Once your profile is eligible to earn money, Facebook will assign your account a CPM, the cost per every thousand views your video gets. Creators are eligible to receive a payout once they earn at least $100.
You can add content to your Facebook Story by logging into Facebook on the app or a desktop, going to your page, and clicking the “Create Story” button at the top of the page. From there, you have the option to create a photo, video, or text story, and once you choose, you can personalize your content and publish it. You can even use fun tools, like polls or quizzes, to make your Stories more interactive. You have more functionalities available to you if you use the app instead of the website to create your story.
Facebook Stories are only on your page for 24 hours, but you can archive them and view them later if you want. They will only be visible to you after the 24-hour mark, however. Influencers use Stories to share thoughts, take polls, and more. This type of content is best for in-the-moment topics rather than evergreen ones.
Facebook states that you need to have a minimum of 10,000 followers to be eligible to earn money from in-stream ads.

You will then be able to direct viewers directly to that website unlike before when the phrase “link in bio” was commonly used. You can even rename the title shown on the sticker to be whatever you want.
Without planned content, it can be difficult to remember to post on Instagram at all. A lot of businesses will plan their content a month at a time with social calendars and batch produce their content. This could be a little difficult for a creator on the individual level sharing their daily experiences.
When planning content, it’s important to know the format type your audience wants to see. Are they interested in bite-sized nuggets of educational information or aesthetically pleasing images? Once you have this determined, you’ll want to choose your theme so when businesses find your profile your grid looks well thought out. This decision will also take some of the pressure off when planning since your filters, fonts, and colors are pre-determined.
Lastly, think about the content that you actually want to share. Your audience can tell when you aren’t being authentic and genuine about what you post online.
You can optimize your Instagram Reels through a variety of ways:
- Create original and educational content
- Include closed captions
- Hop on trends fast
- Share Reels to your Feed and Story for more views
- Optimize onscreen text placement so it fits in the frame if people are watching through the Feed or Reels
- Find your niche and post consistently
- Utilize 3-5 hashtags per post
- Use audio from Instagram’s library
The engagement equation is Engagement Rate = Engagement / Followers. Any interaction with a post is considered engagement, so on Instagram that would include likes, comments, saves, and shares.

Working with smaller brands will allow you to build a portfolio while building your presence at the same time. Different themes include bright colors, pastels, dark colors, doodles on every cover image, or black and white photos.
After uploading or recording your Instagram Story, you can click the Sticker icon and then select the music option. Then you are able to browse and search through Instagram’s database of available music.
While brands do look at follower count, the most important number they check for is engagement rate. A creator with any number of followers can start working with brands to be an influencer.
Influencers on Instagram are creators who produce content and build communities based around a specific topic or niche. They provide their tips and favorite products to their audience, sometimes on behalf of those brands.

Before you begin working with brands (at any number of followers), there are a few things you want to establish. Define your brand and know your audience to create valuable and meaningful content. Post consistently, using hashtags and tagging your location. You can even tag brands in your posts, especially the ones you want to work with. Include your contact information in your bio and pitch yourself to brands; no need to wait for them to come to you. Most importantly, know your worth and don’t undersell yourself.

A lot of people use GIF stickers in their Instagram stories, but did you know you can make your own GIFs to match your branding? Follow these simple steps:
- Become a verified brand on GIPHY (this can be more difficult for small businesses and solo artists)
- Upload your GIFs to GIPHY (they must be uploaded as Stickers and not a GIF in order to use them on IG)
- Start using your GIFs on Instagram (use the descriptive tag you added when uploading to GIPHY to find your sticker on IG)
Click the plus button in the top right hand corner of the feed or profile page and then choose the Reels option. From there, you can start recording or upload videos you have already prerecorded.
Once you upload or record your Instagram Story or Reel, click the sticker icon and choose the captions option. The sticker will automatically transcribe your video for the viewer.
Instagram influencers make money through various ways: brand deals, affiliate marketing, selling their own merchandise, and more. Affiliate marketing is providing links to your followers to purchase products you recommend and receiving a little commission when they do. Influencers of different tiers charge different rates for brand deals. For example, a creator with 5,000 followers might charge $100 for an Instagram Story post versus someone with 900,000 followers might charge around $1,000 for a Story.
Yes! There are no requirements to turn your account from a personal one to a Creator account. All you have to do is open up the Settings on your personal account, scroll down to Account, and then click on Switch to Professional Account down at the bottom.
The Instagram Creator account is best for content creators, influencers, artists, and public figures. A Creator account is recommended over a Business account for those who don’t actually sell products themselves but do collaborate with brands.
An Instagram content creator is someone who makes content that caters specifically to their audience. For example, if someone posts different types of outfits on the platform then they cater to that audience. The Instagram Creator account also allows those users to access special features to make it easier to control their online presence, understand their growth, and manage their messages.
The first step is to optimize your profile by selecting a branded username, write what you can provide in your bio description, organize your boards and pins with descriptions, and claim your website to add in your Pinterest profile. Secondly, you want to make sure you are creating engaging pins with unique designs and branded colors. Another step you can take is join Group Boards, which is a place where multiple Pinterest Creators share pins specific to their areas of expertise. A key aspect of any social media platform is to engage with other users’ content, so repin, comment, and message other users.
There are a few mistakes Pinterest Creators can make, causing them to lose followers:
- Surfing on Pinterest more than sharing pins
- Pinning too many times in a row
- Not having a good bio
- Not verifying your blog with Pinterest
- Having many boards but not enough pins
- Not having a variety of boards
Pinterest makes money in five different ways:
- Brand Advertising. This form of advertising is when an advertiser bases their campaigns around impressions and views.
- Performance Advertising. When a campaign is focused on engagement metrics, this is called performance advertising.
- Partner Collaborations. Pinterest has a curated list of partners, including Shopify, that Pinterest receives referral bonuses from.
- Influencer Collaborations. Pinterest gets a portion of revenue from influencer collaborations like affiliate links, shoppable products, and brand partnerships.
- Acquired Businesses. Since their founding, Pinterest has acquired a number of businesses to help provide the company revenue, including Instapaper.
Currently, the Pinterest Creator with the most followers and subscribers is Joy Cho, also known as “Oh Joy!” She has built up expertise and influenced a few different niches, including homeward, design, fashion, beauty, cooking, and travel.
The two ways that Pinterest Creators can make money are brand partnerships and Shoppable Idea pins. Brand partnerships show up on the Pinterest feed as sponsored posts, and Shoppable Ideas pins allow Creators to tag affiliate products.
Yes! Pinterest influencers, or “Pinfluencers,” are users that are compensated by brands to promote their products on the platform. However, Pinterest calls their influencers by the name “Pinterest Creators” instead.
Depending on how recently you started consistently using Pinterest, the number of monthly views could mean different things. If you have 1,000 to 10,000 monthly views, you’ve just gotten started, while someone with over 50,000 views is starting to gain some traction on the platform. Those with over 100,000 views are doing well, and their blog traffic is likely to pick up soon. Once someone has reached over 1 million monthly views, they are considered established on the platform.
Some of our top tips for gaining followers on Pinterest include:
- Engaging with what’s popular
- Joining relevant group boards
- Standing out with beautiful visuals
- Using detailed descriptions
- Adding relevant keywords to your pin title and description
- Hopping on holidays and observances
- Publishing the save button on your own website
- Promoting your pins
- Experimenting with your posts to test what works best
Like most social media platforms, a good way to gain popularity is to post frequently and consistently. Providing relevant, positive, and meaningful content is also a good way to get users to notice your content and continue to come back for more.
The first step is having a free business account, not a personal account. With your business account, you are able to create Idea Pins which consists of up to 20 pages of videos, images, and text (looking much like an Instagram Story). Pinterest asks for their Creators to contribute one Idea pin per month. You will also need to sign up for the Creator Newsletter, which offers exclusive benefits like a form to submit your pins to be featured on the Today’s Tab.
The next step is joining the Pinterest Business Community to learn about new Pinterest features and talk to other pinners. You’ll also need to define your ideal audience, have a business email, and do keyword research to help optimize your account.
The amount influencers on Pinterest make is influenced by a few things–the reach, engagement, and following size of the account and which brands are taking notice of using creators on Pinterest. According to Power Digital, the biggest Pinfluencers average around 1.8 million followers and bring in $250,000 of revenue each year.

It all begins with simply creating on TikTok. Once you establish your account and start working with brands, you’re typically referred to as an influencer.
Creators can expect between $20 and $40 from the Creator Fund for reaching one million views on one video.
TikTok calculates the payout from their Creator Fund based on views, video engagement, and sometimes region-specific performance. When collaborating with brands, those factors, along with followers, can also play a role in the rate a creator charges for their service.
Creators on TikTok can be paid by brands to post videos promoting their products or TikTok’s Creator Fund.
You can organically promote your TikTok by getting on people’s For You pages. Creating engaging content that can be fun and sometimes tastefully controversial, utilizing the right hashtags, and connecting with your audience’s favorite subcultures are a few ways to do so.
You can get sponsored and start working with brands on TikTok by building a following, creating a profile that stands out, growing other platforms, and creating organic content about your favorite brands. Since TikTok is a relatively new platform, brands will most likely want to see you have a following on other social platforms as well. It is also more beneficial to work with brands you already love; create content about their products or services you enjoy, tag them, and have your Influencer Press Kit ready to send to them when that content starts performing well.
Anybody on a social platform can consider themselves an influencer. There are different tiers based on the number of followers a person on TikTok has; this allows you determine rates you charge brands when creating content for them.
- Nano = 5,000-50,000 followers
- Micro = 50,000-150,000 followers
- Mid = 150,000-750,000 followers
- Macro = 750,000-2,500,000 followers
- Celebrity = 2,500,000+ followers
There is no one-time-fits-all for posting on just about any social media platform, especially TikTok. Every creator has different audiences, which means there are different optimal times for everyone. However, you can start experimenting with timing best practices to determine what works best for your content.
Based on a study by SocialPilot, the best time to post is between 6am to 10am and 7pm to 11pm on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.
There are a few factors that influence the TikTok algorithm:
- Video likes, comments, shares, completions, and rewatches
- Subject matter
- Device settings
- Audio
- Keywords in the caption and hashtags
A strong indicator of interest is if a viewer finishes watching a video from beginning to end. This is why it can be helpful to create short videos with lots of text to allow the video to keep playing while people read.
It is fairly easy for a TikTok video to go viral overnight, thus leading to your account gaining more followers. It all starts with building a recognizable brand, finding your niche, following the trends, and engaging with other users.
TikTok allows creators to use the Promote feature as an advertising tool to get your videos in front of more people. This function does cost money and has certain restrictions on the sounds you can use in promoted videos.
It is required to have a business account in order to place a clickable link in your TikTok bio. However, there you can still have a URL in your bio; it’s just unclickable. Edit your profile and place the text in the bio. Try to make it something simple as people will have to type it out for themselves.
TikTok does allow you to link to other social platforms like Instagram and YouTube without having a business account.
TikTok requires you to be at least 16 years old and have at least 1,000 followers to go live. In order to broadcast live to your followers, open the app and tap the plus (+) button. Tap the Live button next to the option to record, name your livestream, and you’re off!

TikTok influencers charge for their service of creating and sharing viral videos on the platform.
One of the most important factors in gaining a fanbase on Twitch is streaming often. People are less likely to want to follow or subscribe to someone who doesn’t go live frequently. The more you stream, the more people can get to know you and appreciate your streaming style.
Some other important factors in gaining a fanbase on Twitch are:
- Making your viewers feel appreciated
- Promoting your streams across several social platforms
- Using your analytics to see which content performs best, and using these findings when planning out your streams
- Connecting with other streamers and being active in the Twitch community
You can drink alcohol on Twitch as long as you are of legal drinking age and you are not consuming it in a dangerous fashion.
One of the best ways to increase your chance of earning a gifted subscription is to be active in the chats. Be a supportive participant and frequently visit the same streamers’ chats. The more loyal you are, the more likely you are to be rewarded by a streamer. You can also do some research to see which streamers give out the most gifted subs and then participate in their streams.
Streamers grow by gaining more fans and viewers, which can be achieved through the following methods:
- Collaborate with other creators. You can promote each other, feature the other on your stream, and reach each others’ fanbases.
- Show the love. Viewers are more likely to support you when they feel appreciated. Thank people in the chat, give shoutouts, and even gift subscriptions if you can afford it.
- Get people excited. Promote upcoming streams on your social media platforms so people can get ready.
- Post frequently. Try out different content types, different games, and even different collabs with other streamers to see what your audience likes best.
One of the most important steps you need to take in getting sponsored on Twitch is ensuring a regular viewership of at least 50 people on your streams, which also involves streaming high-quality content frequently to reach this kind of viewership.
If companies are not reaching out to you, you can try reaching out to them. Focus on smaller companies at first, especially if you have a smaller following. You might not always be successful, but it’s worth a shot.
You are not allowed to say slurs or hateful language, as well as threats or harassing statements. You are allowed to curse, as long as it is not directed at a person.
Whether you’re a viewer or streamer, you can enjoy watching or creating content about almost anything, including coding, creating art, cooking, and playing music. This platform allows artists and creators to perform live for fans.
Steamers do get money from subscriptions on Twitch. Depending on their agreement with Twitch, they can earn anywhere from $2.49-3.49 a month per subscriber.
Once you receive a gifted sub, you will receive a notification telling you who gifted it to you (as long as they didn’t do it anonymously) and the duration of the sub. A gifted subscription on Twitch can last for one, three, six, or even 12 months. You will be able to see it on your “Subscriptions” page, and if you would like the sub to last longer, you can upgrade it on this page (you will have to pay for any upgrades). The benefits will begin once you receive the gift; you don’t have to do anything to activate it.
In order to gain viewers, you should post frequently and consistently. Consider focusing on one or two games for the majority of your streams. If you switch genres around too much, it may be difficult to keep the same viewers interested in tuning in regularly. You should also talk about your streams on your social media channels to let people know when to expect them.
Twitch can take 30%-50% of total subscription costs depending on the contract a streamer has with the social platform.
The average Twitch streamer makes about $200-400 a month across Bits, subscribers, and ad revenue.
While beginner Twitch streamers aren’t eligible to monetize their content, they will be able to once they reach Affiliate status. It’s estimated that an Affiliate with 100 viewers can make around $1,500 a month.
Becoming a Twitch streamer, or creator, is incredibly easy—anyone can do it. There are three levels of creators on Twitch:
- Streamer: This is the most basic level of creator. Anyone who goes live on Twitch is considered a streamer. You will receive a dashboard where you can see how many people are viewing your content and other useful analytics. Your Creator Dashboard will prompt you with Achievements; once you reach certain Achievements, like streaming for eight hours within the past 30 days and reaching 50 followers, you can move to the next level: Affiliate.
- Affiliate: Affiliate creators are eligible to monetize their accounts with subscriptions, ad revenue, and more. Once again, your Creator Dashboard will guide you with more Achievements, including averaging at least 75 viewers per stream and streaming for at least 25 hours in the past 30 days. Once you meet all of the achievements, you’re eligible to move to the final tier: Partner.
- Partner: These creators have access to all of the benefits of Affiliate streamers, as well as custom Cheermotes and a verified badge.
Twitch is free to use for both creators and viewers. However, there are paid options, including:
- Bits: Viewers pay a one-time fee for bits in increments of 100 and use them to “Cheer” on creators. Cheers are messages in the chat that include animated elements to stand out from the standard chats. Streamers earn money for each Cheer they receive.
- Subscribing: Viewers can subscribe to their favorite creators’ channels by paying a monthly fee. In return, the creator offers perks, like custom emotes, badges, and more. Subscribers may also be able to view that streamer’s content without ads.
- Turbo: Viewers can pay an $8.99 monthly fee for Twitch Turbo, which allows them to watch streams without ads, access more emotes and an exclusive chat badge, and more. Creators can use Turbo to save their broadcasts for 60 days instead of 14.
Additionally, people with an Amazon Prime account are eligible for a free Prime Gaming account, which gives them access to perks like being able to save their Twitch broadcasts for 60 days instead of 14 and the ability to subscribe to one Partner or Affiliate channel a month for free. All you have to do is link your Twitch account to your Amazon Prime account.
If you’re looking to grow your fan base on Twitch, try this advice:
- Promote your streams. Use a variety of social media channels to let your friends and fans know when you’ll be streaming. This will help them get excited and know when to tune in.
- Try out different content types. Add some variety to your streams to keep people interested and attract new fans. Consider different formats like how-tos, casual gameplay, competitive gameplay, and more.
- Collaborate. Work with other streamers on Twitch to promote each other’s content. Twitch even has tools to help, like hosting and raids.
- Thank your viewers. Keep your viewers coming back for more by setting up alerts, which can thank people for following you, enable a Celebration, and more.
There are two types of Twitch bans: temporary suspensions and indefinite suspensions. Temporary bans can last anywhere from one to 30 days, while indefinite suspensions have no set timing. The durations of indefinite suspensions are determined by Twitch.
Twitch’s Community Guidelines do not reference sleeping, so it is not against the rules to stream yourself sleeping.
One of the best ways to promote your channel is on social media. Let your viewers know in advance when you’ll be streaming. Additionally, you can let them know what kind of content you’ll be sharing, or you can keep it a surprise and hint at what it might be to drive anticipation.
You can also encourage viewers to turn on notifications for your channel so they’ll be told when you’re going live. Get creative with your “go live” messages to make them really stand out.
Another new way to promote your stream is by participating in the “Boost this stream!” Challenge. Eligible streamers will be notified that they have the capability to do this, and viewers will be able to see this Community Challenge in the chat. Viewers can pool channel points, and if they gather enough, the stream will be promoted to different parts of Twitch where new viewers can find you.
The main thing you need to do to reach an average of 100 viewers per stream is to be consistent. Having a regular streaming schedule where you continue to put out high-quality content will keep people coming back for more.
Another essential part of getting a lot of viewers is promoting your stream in advance. Use social channels and notifications to let your fans know what to expect and build anticipation.
You can play your own original music on Twitch, as well as any music you have permission and the rights to use, according to the streaming platform. Additionally, Soundtrack by Twitch allows users to search through a library of approved music to use in live broadcasts.
In their Community Guidelines, Twitch states that the following activities can get you banned:
- Breaking the law
- Promoting violence or making threats
- Spreading misinformation
- Performing self-destructive behavior
- Using new or other streamers’ accounts after being banned, or actively featuring a banned creator on your stream
- Harassing others or sharing hateful messages and content
- Sharing private information without permission
- Impersonating someone else
- Having an inappropriate username
- Spamming or scamming users
- Sharing sexual or extremely violent, gory content
- Using someone else’s intellectual property
- Inaccurately labeling your content
- Linking to gambling games
- Sharing content or games that have been embargoed by the game developer
You can absolutely stream on Twitch without gaming. While the majority of streamers do show themselves playing video games, some create content while cooking, creating art, playing music, and more.
You do not need to claim a gifted subscription on Twitch. The subscription will become active the moment the gifter sends it to you.
Whether becoming a Twitch streamer is worth it all depends on what you hope to get from the experience. If you’re looking to connect with a community and share a look into your gaming or other aspects of your life, it can be extremely fulfilling. If you’re looking to make money from streaming, it really depends on how much time you’re willing to put into it. The more effort you put in, the more likely you are to make money. The average streamer on Twitch makes about $200-400 a month; if that sounds appealing to you, you should definitely give streaming a try.
Subscribers can choose to pay monthly or in three- or six-month intervals. If you choose a longer interval, the overall monthly cost is reduced, but you have to pay it all up front.
When a person subscribes to a channel on Twitch, they gain access to some perks created by the streamer. These can include subscriber-only chats during streams, subscriber-only streams and archives, ad-free viewing, custom Cheermotes and badges, potential meet-ups at Twitch events, and more.
Every Twitch Affiliate and Partner is assigned their own CPM, or cost per thousand views, so it depends on how many viewers they have and their unique CPM. Streamers are not allowed to share their CPM, and the CPM can also fluctuate based on the time of year and other factors. It is estimated that the average CPM is $3.50, meaning that if 1,000 people view an ad, the streamer will earn $3.50.
Some Twitch streamers are considered influencers. They are typically Affiliates or Partners, have large followings, can earn money from the content they add to the site, and may even partner with brands to promote products.
Amazon owns Twitch. They bought it in 2014 for $1 billion.
To begin streaming on Twitch from a computer, click on your profile picture in the top right, and choose “Creator Dashboard” from the drop-down list. It will prompt you to download Twitch Studio. Once you have installed the free program, follow the prompts, and you should be able to begin your first stream.
To begin streaming from your phone, open the mobile app and click the camera button on the top dashboard. It will give you the option to “Stream Games” or “Stream IRL.” You’ll have to give the app permission to use your microphone and camera and enable overlays over whatever app you’re planning on using. Then, you’re good to get started streaming.
Super Follows is a way for the most engaged followers to help certain creators earn money on the platform. This is a subscription-based service creators can set up and allows those engaged followers to see bonus content.
The first thing to keep in mind when creating your content for Twitter is that images perform better than videos, especially humor-based images. Twitter users also really love lists and how-to content.
One way you can amplify your Tweets to reach a new audience is to tag another user or two in your content, as long as that content is relevant to them. This action gives them a notification and puts the content right in front of their eyes, giving you a higher chance they will interact with it. You can easily do this without taking up much character count by uploading an image and using the “Who’s in this photo?” feature.
One way to search popular hashtags is to natively search the Twitter platform. There is the #Explore tab that shows everything trending in that moment. Different hashtag analytics tools will also help you find popular tags related to your niche. A good source of hashtag ideas is holidays and observances since those happen every year and often rank in Twitter’s top hashtags.
One way to make your Tweets more interesting is to make them visually appealing. It captures more of the user’s attention, especially GIFs and videos, and helps convey a message you might not have been able to by using words alone. It is also helpful to include some sort of call to action for the user to complete within your post copy. This prompts them to click on something else, possibly more of your content.
The best time to post is when the majority of your audience is online. According to Hootsuite, the best time to post on Twitter is 8:00 a.m. on Mondays and Thursdays. However, some general rules of thumb are to avoid over-posting on weekends and aim for times when people are most likely to be on their phones, like lunch breaks and right after work.
You can use a lot of the same tips we mentioned to gain followers on Twitter, like posting frequently and consistently, using hashtags, and engaging with your community. Some other steps you can take include sharing, or retweeting, content from other creators, jumping on trending topics, and using relevant keywords in your post copy.
Depending on status, an influencer may charge anywhere from $1 to $10,000 per Tweet, according to OptinMonster.
There is no special mark of an influencer. Anybody on Twitter with a following can be considered an influencer because they have people who look to them for advice. However, obtaining the “verified” check mark next to your name does hold some weight.
The platform itself does not pay influencers money just for sending out Tweets. However, there are different ways to make money using Twitter. You can ghostwrite for different people and brands, promote your own products or services, create affiliate links, or send Twitter followers to your website.
After you set up your Twitter account, either on desktop or mobile device, get started by following people, brands, and personalities you like and can draw inspiration from. Now, you’re ready to start sending Tweets out, but there are a few things you need to know. All Tweets have a character count of 280 max, but if you have more to say, you can connect the thoughts using a thread (you do this by replying to the Tweet before it). Twitter offers different features to make your content engaging, like photos, videos, polls, links, and more. Use hashtags to connect your content to a larger one; this will help get your name out there.
The top five Twitter accounts with the most followers as of February 2022:
- Barack Obama – 131M followers
- Justin Bieber – 114.3M followers
- Katy Perry – 108.8M followers
- Rihanna – 105M followers
- Cristiano Ronaldo – 97.8M followers
Twitter recommends using no more than two hashtags per Tweet following best practices, but, in reality, you can use as many as you would like within the 280 character limit.
You can get the most out of the platform by taking advantage of all the tools and features Twitter offers. Quote Tweets allow you to share someone else’s content but add your own thoughts to it as well. With Lists you can create a new feed besides your timeline, curating the stuff you really want to see or group together certain people you follow. Additionally, we recommend tagging accounts in your Tweets to get that user to notice the content and pinning your most popular Tweet at the top of your profile.
Think of your hashtags as the SEO of Twitter. Conduct research to determine what your relevant keywords are and incorporate at least one into every one of your Tweets. Some users follow hashtags (just like you can follow people) if they’re really interested in that topic. The more you use that hashtag, the more your content will be put in front of those users. This could entice them to actually follow you and see your content on their timeline.
Hashtags allow you to provide a unique touch to your content and remind your audience about your brand, especially when using branded hashtags for a specific marketing campaign. Hashtags also connect your Tweet to a larger conversation of other creators that also use the same hashtags.
When crafting a Tweet, you want to make sure it fits within the character count of 280, so keeping it specific and front-loaded are excellent ways to write one. You also want to make sure the content is scannable and doesn’t keep users sitting and pondering (that’s not the nature of the platform).
The first question to ask is, “Am I posting enough?” If you aren’t creating content at a frequent cadence, then the platform won’t push you in front of any new users. Second, it’s important to stick around the platform and follow up with any replies to your content to show users and Twitter that you are a real person and not a bot.
Some creators are able to join the Twitter Media Studio to place video ads on the platform. This allows creators to make money from advertisers when an advertisement is watched or clicked on.
When it comes to influencing, follower count isn’t the only deciding factor. A lot of brands will instead look at engagement rate and how many of your followers interact with your content.
Twitter influencers can make whatever they set their rates to based on their follower count and engagement rate. Depending on status, an influencer may charge anywhere from $1 to $10,000 per Tweet, according to OptinMonster.

Try these tips to make yourself stand out among the crowd: make your channel look professional and branch out to other platforms. You can also find sponsors by reaching out to brands directly.
YouTubers do not get paid specifically for their likes. However, this form of engagement can help get a creator’s video in front of more viewers, which increases views and potentially money earned from ads.
According to YouTube Guidelines, creators should avoid harmful or dangerous content, violent or graphic content, hate speech, and harassment or cyberbullying behavior.
Beyond that, to succeed on YouTube, it’s important to make sure you upload at a consistent rate, keep your videos engaging so people watch all the way through, ask viewers to subscribe and leave comments on your video, and share your videos on other social platforms.
Here are a few tips for those wanting to focus on fitness with their YouTube channel:
- Update your audience regularly

- Nano: 1,000 – 10,000 average views
- Micro: 10,000 – 25,000 average views
- Mid-tier: 25,000 – 100,000 average views
- Macro: 100,000 – 1,000,000 average views
- Elite: 1,000,000 – 5,000,000+ average views
All YouTube Memberships cost $4.99. You can tell a channel has this feature if it has a “Join” button next to the “Subscribe” button. For every YouTube Membership payment, the channel owner receives 70% of the funds while YouTube takes 30%.
The amount creators make varies based on a couple factors: number of subscribers and video views. Views helps determine money made from Google Ads, while subscribers will allow you to work with different brands.
According to ZipRecruiter, the average YouTube influencer in America makes $48,338 per year, or $23 per hour.
There are two ways you can get paid via your YouTube content. The first is ad revenue after reaching certain monetization requirements. This is paid to creators by YouTube from money that companies spend on placing ads. The second is through brand deals and working with other companies to promote their products and services.
