To create this list, we consulted the most popular fashion YouTubers. From our list of the most popular fashion YouTubers, we then removed ones without a focus on makeup, since a good few of them only covered other fashion or beauty products. Now that we’ve found the right people, we’re going to give you their videos, dive into their history, and try to help you learn from them so that you can become a better content creator.
Shaaanxo, or Shannon Harris, is a YouTuber from New Zealand, and is one of the most popular YouTubers from there. She ranks high among the general fashion YouTubers, but as a top YouTube makeup guru she’s ranked 16. She focuses on all forms of facial makeup, and has over time been able to launch her own beauty products thanks to her popularity on YouTube.
In addition to her main channel, she also has a sidechannel that she uses for vlogs and fan interaction via Q/A sessions. Fan engagement is also good for growth.

She’s known for making many beauty-focused DIY videos on makeup and other beauty products. She also makes haul videos.
MakeupByMandy is a channel run by Amanda Steele. Steele herself got her start when she was very young, launching her YouTube channel while she was in fifth grade. Since then, her channel has prioritized makeup tutorials and reviews, in addition to tutorials on hair styles and outfits. Many of her videos also cross into vlog territory.
The Bubzbeauty channel uploaded its first video in August of 2007. Lindy Tsang is one of the top YouTube makeup gurus, so she makes many videos concerning different facial makeups and makeup techniques. In addition to makeup videos, she also does hair styling tutorials, haul videos and personal videos.
Sara runs an aptly-named channel known as SaraBeautyCorner, and her focus is primarily on DIY/life hack videos. However, she still earns her place on this list of top YouTube fashion gurus, since many of these videos cover makeup and other personal beauty products.
Jaclyn Hill is a professional makeup artist, and it shows immediately once you enter her channel. Her videos cover a wide variety of makeup application techniques, in addition to videos that target particular appearances. Additionally, she also does product reviews, hair styling tutorials and vlogs.
Lauren Curtis‘ channel is quite diverse. In addition to in-depth makeup tutorials, she’s gained a positive reputation by blending other types of content, including fashion reviews and personal advice videos.
Tanya Burr tackles four seperate categories: makeup tutorials, baking tutorials, haul videos and vlogs. By targeting these four high-ranking content types simultaneously, her channel has been allowed to grow immensely. Additionally, she’s collaborated with Zoella, one of the most popular fashion YouTubers there is!
Kandee Johnson is known for making multiple in-depth makeup tutorials, as well as videos showcasing “transformations”- that is, using makeup to make herself look like someone else. These include YouTubers, Disney Princesses and other popular characters.
dope2111 is a YouTube channel run by Promise Phan, and she’s one of the top YouTube makeup gurus. Most of her videos are on celebrity and character transformations via makeup techniques, and she also dives into costumes/cosplay. Her channel also hosts review content and personal vlogs.
The Beauty Bybel is run by Carli Bybel (see what she did there?), and her channel makes her one of the top YouTube makeup gurus. In addition to advanced makeup videos and tutorials, she also does hair styling tutorials, haul videos and vlogs.
Nikkie De Jager earns her place in the top YouTube makeup gurus by focusing her channel entirely on facial makeup and advanced tutorials on and around it. NikkieTutorials has earned its place on this list.
Grav3yardgirl is run by Rachel Meyer, and she starts off the top 3 on this list with a stranger turn. She does first impression videos on various makeup products, and she also does videos on outfits and unboxings. She sets herself apart from other fashion YouTubers by using…stranger products, though, and despite being fully capable of ‘normal’ fashion and presentation, she approaches her channel and videos with an over-the-top comedic approach.
Michelle Phan is a big name, and for a good reason. She’s the 95th most-subscribed YouTuber in the world, and she’s one of the two top YouTube makeup gurus. She’s used her fame and YouTube success to launch multiple books and her own fashion product line.
Most of her videos are on facial makeup tutorials, as well as vlogging and more general fashion tips.
Last and certainly not least, there’s Zoella, or Zoe Sugg. She’s the second most-popular fashion YouTuber over all, and the biggest YouTube fashion guru there is. She’s one of the founders of the YouTube fashion genre, and her channel has a massive following.
