Instagram Gets Up Close And Personal With Pluto

In its continued campaign for social media dominance, Instagram recently teamed up with space program NASA to post the first images of the furthest planet from Earth, Pluto.

The spacecraft traveled more than 9 years and 3+ billion miles to snap that photo, which at the time of posting quickly generated 358,000 likes and 13,000+ comments. NASA agreed to post the image to Instagram first, about an hour before officially releasing it.

NASA joining forces with Instagram is a major kudos to the photo sharing site, which currently hosts more than 300 million active users and has posted 30+ billion photos. The network only continues to grow in popularity, especially among a younger global demographic, who enjoy the high levels of engagement from other users. And we agree, creating Likes & Comments as well as Comment King for those looking to take their Instagram activities to new levels.
