Did you lose subs? Clearing up what happened.

lost subscribers
We’ve been getting a lot of e-mails about people losing subs over the last 24 hours and wanted to clear up what exactly happened. The short answer is: every so often YouTube goes in and purges inactive accounts. There is a lot of info about this online, the best article is here on Social Blade; You can also see others who are dealing with this same issue today, most of whom are not a part of our community at Grin, but it shows the reach of the purge nonetheless. This information is here on the YouTube product forums If you lost a large volume of your subs then the most likely outcome is those people were inactive or displayed “bot-like” tendencies. This is something we are trying to eliminate with Grin, by focusing on real people and community and not allowing bots into our system. Either way, we know it’s rough and we’re dealing with a loss from last night as well. If you want to see who lost the most subscribers across all of YouTube in the last 24 hours you can click here PewDiePie lost over 500,000 subs last night. At Grin we’re focused on building products that deliver real, genuine growth for creators. So while we are frustrated with the loss, we’re OK in knowing the users who were purged from our channel were inactive. Inactive subs are not good for anyone as they don’t contribute to revenue or our growth long term. Lastly, we wanted to say how much we appreciate you sticking with us as we continue to work hard & improve. If you have any feedback or ideas for how we can improve please don’t hesitate to reach out in the comments below. Brandon
